Why SimpleMiss?

Several years ago, through very dear friends, we were introduced first-hand to the beauty of adoption. The passion for it became contagious. In the few years since we started the process for our first adopted son from Ethiopia, Grady, God has shown our family amazing blessings. His graces (which are too numerous to list) included a stronger faith, the opportunities to educate others about adoption, trusting God with our finances, trusting Him with our future, building amazing, life-long friendships, teaching our children to think outside themselves, as well as the immense pleasure of calling Grady our son and brother. Feeling God's calling to adopt another child, we are again stepping out in faith. Of course, the cost of adoption has increased and our financial resources have decreased. But we believe God will "give us what we need when we ask according to His purpose". Soooo, after prayer and much brainstorming, we came up with the idea to make and sell fashion accessories. This venture allows me to use my creative juices and hopefully fund our adoption as well. Thank you for supporting us, and thank you for supporting adoption!!!

This OUTRAGEOUS number is how many orphans live in our world. How do we wrap our brains around this despairing truth??? I often marvel at the realization that I could have been born into severe poverty, or what if MY child lived the life of an orphan? I didn't EARN the right to be born to into a middle-class American family, and neither to these desperate babies deserve to be hungry, sick, or parentless. I can't just sit by and count myself lucky or say "There's nothing I can do". Only God can save the world, but aren't we His hands and feet? What can I do today to love like Jesus?
